Gold Coast Physiotherapy – Burleigh Heads and Broadbeach Centres
Pilates Mat Class Program
What is it?
Pilates is a low impact whole body exercise system.
When it is run by a physiotherapist, clinical pilates is a safe way to exercise if you have had injuries as well as being a treatment method that can immediately decrease your pain and increase your movement.
It is adaptable to many fitness levels and needs – from athletes to seniors or for people undergoing rehabilitation.
It emphasises balanced development of the body through:
- core strength
- flexibility
- body awareness
- balance
Pilates produces stability throughout your entire torso, which in turn supports efficient, graceful movement
What are the benefits?
- Creates long, lean muscles
- Increases flexibility safely
- Develops core strength which can help to reduce or control back pain
- Increases energy through improved efficiency of movement
- Floods the body with ‘feel good’ endorphins, reducing stress levels
- Improves breath control
- Improved sport performance
- Can be individualised to improve a specific weakness or injury
- Improves pelvic stability which is good for lower back and hip pain
The mat classes (for a maximum of 8 per class)
What you will get:
- Free pre-screening to ascertain your goals and problem areas as well as taking measures for re-assessment
- 10 week course (2 sessions per week) or
- 5 week course (2 sessions per week)
- Free post-class re-assessment to determine your level of improvement
Starting on 15th of August we will be conducting a 10 week course (finishing on 27th of October), or a 5 week course (finishing on 22nd of September)
Classes will include a pre-screening and a post-class reassessment to determine your starting level and then how much improvement you have made in the 10 or 5 week session. The pre-screening will take half an hour and will need to be booked in with one of the physios before the pilates course starts. We will be running up to 3 classes per week. We would encourage participants to partake in two sessions per week to get the maximum improvement.
The cost
- 10 week course $440 (20 classes)
- 5 Week course $ 250 (10 classes)
Private health rebates apply, depending on your health fund and the level of your cover they will pay between $6-25 per class. Some health funds have healthy lifestyle packages that you may be eligible for so contact your health fund today to find out what rebates you are covered for.
